A 9-year-old boy in Nova Lima, Brazil, found a growling jaguar in a school bathroom.
According to New Central Europesthe boy, David Miguel, needed to use the potty during a football game on Saturday when he came face to face with the animal.
“I was shaking like jelly. It went ‘grrr’ and my heart almost stopped,” he told local media.
The youngster said he ran to his father to tell him of his discovery.
“I thought it was going to be an ocelot, a wild dog or something. The moment I saw the animal was that big, I ran back,” David’s father Rodrigo Almeida said. , 34 years old.
Local authorities arrived at the school and calmed the jaguar, which was considered a young female by the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources.
The animal was released into the wild safe and sound.
Veterinarian Marcos Mourao took part in the rescue and said deforestation was leading to an increase in the number of wild animals approaching urban areas.
“We know this happened due to increased deforestation, large forest fires and the destruction of the natural habitat of these animals,” Mourao said.
“Then, in their flight, they end up passing through towns and villages.”
