His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Falcon Federation, has commissioned the Federation to organize the first edition of the UAE Falcon Federation Cup for falcon racing in the Farkh category ( falcons under one year old) during December of this year.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed said, “We have ordered to hold the UAE Falcon Federation Cup Championship every year, as confirmation of the Federation’s continued efforts to support and promote the sport.” His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed thanked His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, for his continued support for the sport. “His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed has contributed so much to this sport and developed it by motivating the participants. His initiatives have contributed to the popularity of the sport and reflect the extent of his love and belief in the importance of reviving this ancient heritage sport,” said His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed gave the directive while presiding over a board meeting of the UAE Falcon Federation. The inaugural edition of the Cup will be held from December 7-14, 2022 at Al Ruwayyah Grounds in Dubai. The races will be held over a distance of 400 meters in three categories (Sheikhs, Open Public and Owners), with five competitions divided into three legs each. The competition will include Jeer Shaheen (Farkh), Jeer Teba (Farkh), Pure Jeer (Farkh) and Qarmousha (Farkh). The championship will consist of 12 main rounds, with four rounds for each category of Sheikhs, Open Public and Owners, and three Final Cup rounds with one round each for the categories.

Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Falcon Federation, underlined the importance of this championship and its consistency with the objectives and vision of the Federation. He said the Federation Cup was a new addition and a pioneering move towards the development of falcon racing. The aim of the Federation, he added, was to promote and develop falcon racing and achieve sustainability. The Federation is responsible for publishing the rules and regulations of the sport, introducing it to all of society, and focusing on creating a hub for practitioners while promoting the cultural heritage of the UAE worldwide. .

Falcon racing, or Telwah falconry, is a traditional sport in the United Arab Emirates where a falconer flies a falcon to catch prey as quickly as possible. The Federation is keen to organize the first championship of its kind at the start of the 2022-2023 falcon racing season in accordance with its strategic objectives to benefit falconers, promote the culture of practicing falconry and promote its unique principles and values. in the world of falcon racing.
