People usually stop at the sight of adorable puppies. While some cuddle these adorable furballs and walk over to them, ardent admirers are adopting these puppies. Although it is one of the noblest things to do, give shelter to a stray, a line must still be drawn where the difference between stray and wild animals diminishes.
Something of this nature happened a few days ago in New England Massachusetts. A couple brought home an eastern coyote that they mistook for a small pup. The couple isn’t entirely to blame since these wild animals look eerily similar when young. Eastern coyotes, also known as American jackals, are wild canine hybrid animals from North America with both coyote and wolf parentage.
“The Eastern Coyote pup was separated from his family last week and found wandering and in distress by the side of a busy road. He was later accidentally brought home by a local family after they mistakenly identified him as a lost puppy. After realizing their confusion, they called them for help,” the New England Wildlife Center wrote, in a Facebook post.
The message also mentioned that the wild being was recovering and would soon meet a new buddy to play with. “A foster brother just arrived from @riwildliferehab and they will be introduced soon,” the post added.
The separated coyote will receive vaccines and learn and grow in near-natural conditions in the outdoor cage on the grounds of the wildlife center, officials said.
