Emmy Award winner Billy Crystal stops by Pittsfield town center bar

It was a celebrity sighting of epic proportions in downtown Pittsfield over the weekend when Barrington Stage star and Emmy Award-winning actor Billy Crystal stopped by the Methuselah Bar and Lounge .

Methuselah shared the photos on their social media accounts yesterday, showing Crystal posing with bartender Lauren Ferin.

In September via their website, Barrington Stage announced that the Emmy and Tony-winning actor and comedian would take the stage at the world-famous theater company to reprise his role as Mr. Saturday night in a limited development series of the comedic musical adaptation of the film of the same name.

Crystal starred and directed the 1992 film. The story centers around Buddy Young Jr. and chronicles the rise and fall of the fictional comedian. The original film marked Crystal’s directorial debut. Additionally, Crystal wrote the screenplay with 30-year writing partners Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel who have collaborated on films such as Splash, Parenthood, and Townspeople. Crystal, Ganz and Mandel wrote the book for the new musical.

Production kicked off last weekend and shows continue tonight until October 30. According to Playbill, the show was specially put on for the Barrington Stage Company by Warner Bros. Theater Venture.
