I’m not a big ‘Cat Guy’ but big cats are really awesome. I actually live just down the street (about half a mile) from an exotic animal rescue zoo similar to the one Joe Exotic had in King tiger and about once a week I hear lions roar when I leave my house.
Living so close to a zoo full of tigers, lions, a huge liger, and bears often makes me wonder when I’m going to wake up someday and see a story on the news that these huge cats escaped and roam around my hood.
The leopard in this video below jumps almost 3 meters to grab a piece of meat! It would knock me down in an instant. The chances of this happening are very slim, but they are not zero. Check out this action:
This video is actually from early August, but it came across my desk when a colleague saw it on For victory earlier today, so shout out to them for bringing up these awesome pictures.
The clip was filmed and shared by the Harnas Wildlife Foundation which collects wild animals in need of rescue. It started as a family farm, but when a zoo in South Africa closed it converted it into a sanctuary for rescued animals and the leopard seen here is called Hellboy. Here’s Hellboy relaxing in a tree:
Hellboy arrived at Harnas Farm in 2011 when he was just a little one. His mother was shot and he was left helpless. The number of different species found at the Harnas Wildlife Foundation is pretty crazy.
They have lions, leopards, cheetahs, caracals, wild dogs, wildebeest, ostriches, hyenas, foxes, monkeys, warthogs, and the list goes on and on. You can consult their site here if you want to know more about what they are doing.
