Midlothian schoolgirl missing for two days as desperate search continues


A Scottish schoolgirl who disappeared two days ago is still missing as a frantic search continues.

Rachael Lawrie, 14, disappeared from Newbattle, Midlothian, on Thursday morning.

The teenager went to school that morning but has not been seen since.

Rachael was last seen on Newbattle Road, walking towards Easthouses, at around 11.50am.

She is described as around 5ft 5in tall, with long blonde hair, but it is unknown what she was wearing when she disappeared.

Rachael has connections in Lanark and Dunfermline and it is understood she may have traveled to Glasgow.

Sergeant Ross Falconer said Rachael had already disappeared and officers were concerned for her well-being.

Police are urging anyone who has seen Rachael or knows her whereabouts to get in touch.

Sergeant Falconer said: ‘Rachael has been reported missing before and we are concerned for her well-being and would ask anyone who has seen her or knows her whereabouts to contact us.

“She has connections in Lanark and Dunfermline and may have traveled to the Glasgow area.
