(Update 3:30 p.m.) The second edition of Miss Universe Philippines under Shamcey SupsupManagement has added two new titles.
This, after photos of alleged belts to be handed out to beauty pageant winners surfaced on social media.
Some competition-focused pages posted photos of belts purported to be awarded to âMiss Universe Philippines Tourismâ and âMiss Universe Philippines Charityâ.
The titles were previously not included in the competition programming.
The Miss Universe Philippines organization confirmed this in an article Wednesday afternoon.
âBesides the main title of Miss Universe Philippines, we have decided to add two new titles: Miss Universe Philippines Tourism and Miss Universe Philippines Charity,â the organization said.
“These two queens will not participate in any international competition, but if Miss Universe Philippines 2021 is not able to fulfill its obligations, MUPH Tourism will take over,” he added.
The promotion of tourism and charitable commitment are two pillars that the MUPH organization defends. By having individual queens focused on these, we can advance our cause, âhe continued.
Since the competition was handed over to Miss Universe Philippines Organization, the contestants posted tourist videos to show off the beauty of their hometowns from the places they represent.
Despite the unverified photos ahead of the organization’s announcement, some Filipinos have applauded their bets for the new titles.
“Kung yan ang belts: Miss Universe Philippines – Steffi Rose Aberasturi, Miss Charity – Beatrice Luigi Gomez, Miss Tourism -Katrina Dimaranan, 1st finalist – Victoria Vincent, 2nd finalist – Chella Falconer”, a Facebook user written in the comments.
“Maureen for the crown, Kisses for tourism”, another online user noted.
“Maureen Wroblewits / Katrina Dimaranan for Miss Universe Philippines 2021, Miss Charity for Kisses Delavin, Miss Tourism for Steffi Aberasturi, 1st runner-up for Victoria Vincent, 2nd runner-up for Jasmine Umali”, another contest fan wrote.
