“Killer Boar Attack!” Walker films terrifying moment when a wild boar charges him and digs his teeth into his leg on a German beach

  • Jan Odendahl approached the boar to record a video to show his children
  • He ended up with a slightly sprained ankle and a bruise on the back of his thigh
  • The images were taken by Mr Odendahl while walking on the island of Rügen

It is the terrifying moment when a wild boar charges a man on a German beach.

The newly shared images were taken by Jan Odendahl as he walked along the chalk coast from Sassnitz to Kieler Bach on the island of Rügen.

Mr Odendahl approached the boar to record a video so he could show it to his children, but was shocked when the animal ran towards him.

The footage, captioned “Killer Boar Attack”, shows Mr. Odendahl walking towards the boar wading through the water after it fell on a slope and ran aground.

As he walks past the boar, it suddenly starts charging towards him.

Backing up, Mr. Odendahl falls on the stones and tries to protect himself by kicking the boar in the face.

During the attack, the boar manages to bite Mr. Odendahl’s leg.

Mr Odendahl said he was able to fend off the second attack with “a brave blow to the face of the pig”.

Fortunately, a passer-by throws stones at the boar and forces it to return to open water and “swim away”.

Mr Odendahl said the bite marks were visible for a month after the November 2020 attack, which left him with cuts, severe bruising on his leg and a sprained ankle.

He added: “In the end, I had to laugh about it.”

Rügen is the largest island in Germany and is known to be home to a number of wildlife, including wild boars.

And this is not the first wild boar to cause trouble in Germany.

A wild boar went viral last August after stealing a nudist’s laptop by a lake in the German capital.

Photos of the female boar and her two cubs have been shared thousands of times on social media after a naked swimmer was pictured shamelessly chasing them to retrieve her laptop bag.

The unnamed man had sunbathed in Teufelssee, a lake west of Berlin, before being involved in the unexpected encounter.

Likewise, bizarre footage from Berlin showed police blocking a street to allow a herd of more than 20 wild boars to cross.

In the clip, piglets cross the road in the Zehlendorf district followed by their parents.

The video, posted to Twitter by Felix Hackenbruch on May 17, 2020, was retweeted by Berlin police who said: “Sometimes the wilderness is right on our doorstep.”
